an easel in africa

fashion wonderland
I carry this picture everywhere I go. It's by a friend of mine, Evan Church, who grew up in Kenya, Malawi, and Zimbabwe, and paints Africa in a way I've never seen: not the too-familiar faces of hungry children, the standard landscapes of gentlemen painters, or tribesmen exoticized for the western eye, but simple, beautiful portraits of Africans.
